Telecom Software Architect

ARCHITECT - L1 
Core responsibility of an incumbent in Architect roles is to design an architecture solution which meets the needs of the customer.
Different levels of Architect role vary in proficiency, expertise.
At higher levels incumbent is more responsible for solution design, consulting the client on appropriate solution, defining and evaluating the architecture.
At L1 Prime responsibility is to work on implementing architecture or design, implementing resue / automation strategy and reviewing the design.
The incumbent at this level contributes on solution definition but is not accountable or decision holder of the same.

SUITe Skill(s)

Skill1 - Architecting (L2)
Responsible for managing the design & architecture for small to medium projects/ contributing to large complex projects.
Expected to continue to build upon domain knowledge and technical/ proprietary skills to reach levels of industry acknowledgement.
Works as a guide and independently sets directions for medium sized projects of high complexity.
Works on problems of highly complex scope, through expert usage of non-standard concepts & principles requiring high levels of judgment & interpretation.
Determines a course of action, which is then executed by project teams.
Can offer multiple solutions to problems through existing and new methodologies and then exercises judgement to determine most appropriate solution.
Requires expert knowledge of multiple development technologies.
Has sufficient expertise to write and present whitepapers and articles in recognized magazines and industry forums.
Applies advanced knowledge and experience to the development of new methods, programs and procedures.
The role would offer expertise cutting across units and would make tactical decisions which will have an impact on the business.
Manages divergent interest and perspectives.
Advises Sr Management on specialized technical issues.
Conducts supports and reports research in one’s own area of expertise.
Is responsible for capability development of the team/ unit.

Skill2 - Telecom (L3)
Should have good understanding of one of the telecom domains (Wireless, EMS/NMS, Optical, VNGN, and Data/Access Networks) and the deployment scenarios of the corresponding products.
Should be able to analyze requirement and estimate for features and list risks.
Should have capability to design a functional block/ module.
Should have the hands-on knowledge in designing of features.
Should be able to translate the telecom standards into implementation and to design the protocols/ functional entities.
Should be familiar with test tools and test environment.

Skill3 - Telecom Platform Architecting (L1)
NONE

Essential Skill(s)

Skill1 - L2 Switching Technologies (L3)
Should have worked for at least 24 months in L2 Switching Technologies -Ethernet (CSMA/CD), ATM, Frame relay, Cisco HDLC, Layer 2 Multicast, Layer 2Security, Layer 2 QoS
Should have worked on a least 2 VTPs in the L2 Switchning Technologies domain.
Should have good understanding of L2 networks/products -Ethernet/ATM Switches, L2 VPNs, Tunneling Protocols like PPP, L2TP, MPLSPseudowires
Able to estimate for features and list risks from experience. Should be comfortable in design patterns and tools for debugging.
